How it works

It contains two different medicines called naproxen and esomeprazole. Each of these medicines works in a different way. Naproxen belongs to a group of medicines called “Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs” (NSAIDs). It reduces pain and inflammation. Esomeprazole belongs to a group of medicines called “proton pump inhibitors”. It reduces the amount of acid in your stomach.

Dosage

Naproxen + Esomeprazole

Side Effects

Dizziness , headache , dysgeusia , hypertension , GI upset , arthralgia , oedema . GI bleeding , ulceration or perforation , rash . Serious skin reactions ( discontinue ) and hepatic reactions .

Drug Interactions

Antiretrovirals , corticosteroids , anticoagulants , antiplatelets , SSRIs , cyclosporin , tacrolimus , diuretics , ACE inhibitirs , cardiac glycosides , lithium , methotrexate , hydantroins , sulfonamides , sulfonylureas , clopidogrel , beta-blockers , ketoconazole , itraconazole , cholestyramine , probenecid , quinolones .

Indication

It is used in adults for the relief of symptoms of : Osteoarthritis , Rheumatoid arthritis , Ankylosing spondylitis. It helps to reduce pain, swelling, redness and heat (inflammation).

When not to Use

Hypersensitive to any of the ingredients in the list.

Nipsso Mr Precautions

Precaution

If you get a rash on your skin, especially in areas exposed to the sun tell your doctor as soon as you can, as you may need to stop your treatment with this medicine. Remember to also mention any other illeffects like pain in your joints.

Nipsso Mr Warnings

Warning 1

Medicines such as this may be associated with a small increase in the risk of heart attack (myocardial infarction) or stroke. Any risk is more likely with high doses and long lasting treatment. Do not exceed the recommended dose or length of treatment.

Warning 2

It is not suitable to achieve rapid relief of acute pain, as it takes several hours before the painkilling substance naproxen is taken up in your blood.

Warning 3

Taking a proton pump inhibitor (which is a component of this medicine), especially over a period of more than one year, may slightly increase your risk of fracture in the hip, wrist or spine. Tell your doctor if you have osteoporosis or if you are taking corticosteroids (which can increase the risk of osteoporosis).
